Knitted Coat
this is my version of the pattern shown below....
just using up some old wool gifted to me....
and the little ones found some patchwork pieces....
and put them to good use in the dolls house....
as mats....
clever I thought....

about that wool....
just a couple of projects finally finished...
above is some knitting that needed extending...
so I crocheted a border...
still small...but that's all there is...
getting a bit tired of all the red....
found these bits...some knitted...
so dug out some pale tone wool...
and edged them all with crochet and put them together...
I found a moccasin pattern...
for little feet...
not really happy with them so will have to have another go...
they're back in the "think about it" pile...
apologies for the photo quality...
it's the camera's fault...
it can't fix the shaky hand or old eyes..

"Does Your Mum Like To Knit Too?
having a bit of fun mixing the old with the new.
it's hard to tell what these two are really saying or thinking.
i couldn't resist colouring that jumper with fluoro pink & orange.
found a couple of old knitting books at the op shop.
layered the old photo from the knitting book over a page of knitting instructions from a new magazine, painted with acrylic & water soluble crayon.
stamped a border using a cork & fluoro orange acrylic....
the joy of wool?........i say the "joy of paint"!

Knitted things
had the pleasure of receiving some lovely flowers recently...
just love the way the roses age...
forgot to get a photo of them as buds...
the reds have a lovely velvet look and feel to them...
during the recent past I also received a lovely book...
30 minute knits...
so while I was sitting I tried a few...
the hat and crowns came from the book...
the slippers and socks from another source...
the kids had a bit of fun with the crowns...
the slippers and socks still need work...
maybe they'll get done before the cold weather finishes...

Another crochet rug
found the last of the knitted squares....
made by a friend of Mum's...
then found some pretty wool that tied the colours in together...
a varigated aqua and mauve...
then picked the yellow and aqua to highlight...
just enough squares to get this small rug done...
its now with the new baby...
as it ties in with the colours of his room...
oh...I did finish tying in the ends too...
before it went to its new home...

more crochet in pink
another square in my current favourite...
then with the leftovers...
more granny squares...
not sure that they will go with the current batch of knitted squares though...
am hoping there will be enough for something pretty one day...

green scarf
here's another scarf we had a play with...
Mum had 2 short pieces of knitting...
then we found some nice wool to join in...
so I crocheted a piece in between...
to make it a bit more...
and she added the flowers for a bit of pretty...

earthy brown shruggy
here is the next earthy colour shruggy
looks wonky on the hanger...
the colours remind me of the outback...
so I had a go at wearing it and taking the photo in the mirror...
not so good either...
but you get the idea of it...
I had enough wool left over to do a mini one too...
not sure what size it is...
just small as you can see by my hand...

Cream crochet
here's another crochet square...
from another project I have on the go...
that cleaning up I was talking about earlier...
has just filled this basket with more stuff to do...
this cream project is a variation of the shuggy concept...
just made with crochet squares instead of knitting...
the problem I now have is that I've run out of this colour wool..
maybe just one more ball would do...
now it will have to wait for a trip to the shop to see if I can match it..

rich colour shruggy
another shruggy done...
what to do with the bright varigated colours of the fluffy wool?..
I think it toned down a lot by adding the other colours...
the thought of earthy colours...
made me think this may fit...
reminds me of the colours of sunset...
depending on where you are when you get a chance to watch it...

Pink and White Shruggy
have been trying to use up bits of wool stashed in various places..
thinking that I'm cleaning up at the same time...
thought these colours might sort of go together...
without being too much of one or the other...
but not sure of the stippy effect...
or the quality of the photo...
knitted on great big needles...
lovely purple ones nearly the thickness of broomsticks...
so it ended up long and loose...

more colours
my latest bit of crochet...
linking the lovely diagonal knitted squares...
that I get from Mum's friend....
one at a time...
in random colours...
the colours remind me of the colours of gemstones..
amber...amethyst...jade...emerald...
with the cream maybe...opal...
I used bits of leftover wool...so none of it matches...
anyway I think it linked together nicely...

Blue and Green again
well...here are the 'socks'....
from a previous post last year...
at the end of the cool weather...
it was not 'socks'...
it has grown to a wonky...saggy...baggy shruggy...
I enjoyed working with the colours and textures...
it's really soft and cuddly...
but it's so heavy and the stripes are wonky with the weight...

Blue and Green
here's a peek at what I'm working on...
as usual I am deliberating on what happens next...
the old saying....blue and green should never be seen...
unless there's a colour in between....
keeps playing in my head....
where did that come from??...and why??...
actually I'm liking these colours together...
not sure about the stripes...
the blurry photo is accidently on purpose...

Lacy fluffy stuff
we had a bit of a play with some lace....
an old cafe style curtain....
some whitey strips of knitting....
sewn together...
to become a bit of a frilly scarf...
trying to come up with a pretty bit of fluff to decorate a neck...
the fluffy piece ended up threaded through the holes on the left...
and it worked ok...
hopefully not too scratchy...

More crochet
I'm still on the crochet theme...
finding knitted bits from Mum's stash....
I felt these colours went together....
and as usual I didn't have enough of any one thing soo...
it probably looks better on the chair....
you dont notice the wonkyness of it...
have had enough of pulling it out....
trying to get it straight...
mixing different tensions and wool sizes and knitting verses crochet....(sigh!!)...
but I will keep practicing...
lucky those around me are forgiving of my mistakes...
ooops....not a terribly manly theme but,,,,
Happy Fathers Day to any dads out there who may be looking!!..

Pastel Patches of crochet
speaking of pastel...
another project I've been working on...
thinking about how life goes around and around us...
my mum encouraged me to learn to crochet when I was a teenager...
mainly to use the hand spun wool she was spinning...
and she's still giving me ideas and projects to do...
using some of the knitted squares that have been knitted diagonally...
I found the leftover shruggy wool nearly matched the colours so...
I made as many granny squares as I could....
then found enough very pale blue to join them all....
but I still cant get much bigger than a knee rug...
which is ok cause it already found a pair of knees to keep warm...
a lovely lady who is the friend of the knitter...
