crochet booties

I haven't been very creative for a while...
            well not in the crafty
going back through my photos I found this little project...
using my favourite bootie pattern...

they ended up quite large for booties...
so maybe they are slippers for someone a bit bigger...
will need to add a non slip sole...
so still a work in progress...
the flower shape will probably adorn the toe as decoration...

this is the packet of wool that I found at an op shop....
which inspired the booties in the first place...
I really liked the colours...
thats all there is so small creations only...

Acrylic+Collage Art

A couple of close ups of some experimental collage with acrylic on canvas. i think this bit works. I didn't like the look of the original flower picture i stuck on under these pink flowers, so painted over them. i am happy with the texture created by the paper underneath.(raylee).

Black, White & Colour

Hello to everyone that stops by to see what is happening here........sorry not much for a while. Actually i have been busy........when i wear this......i tend to let other things fall by the wayside. My favourite pair of old shoes & my apron for painting, which i have been doing for days now.......cant even remember how many.

Before i ventured back to the easel this morning i thought a little change would do me good....... (isnt that a line from a song?).

Bobbin Bling!!.......i found the metal bobbins & the ear ring at the op-shop, & the chains from swing tags.......a new necklace!

Old Stool.......New Look

Hello , this is what i did last weekend......old stool bought from the "tip shop".......(most members of my family are keen op shoppers, garage sale hunters, market goers). they often pass things on to me, to reuse, reinvent, repaint.....whatever.....all the materials i have used for this project were given to me except for the glue & the orange paint. sorry i forgot to take a photo of its original state.....just brown varnished timber.
the top was split in a bit of wood glue put it back together.
an undercoat of paint, then a coat of neutral around the bottom of the legs & the top of the stool .......a small amount of paint was left over from a previous job, just enough for this small paint job.......

....... i added some pink crochet to a doily from Simonne's bag of treasures, to make a fitted skirt to go on the top of the stool.....

......from the top, the original doily.......& my pink extension..... for the top of the legs....

i took some of the colours from the bed clothes to use for this makeover, just in case you were wondering.......

i have a bedhead to paint yet (not orange) so i will decide if i am happy with the colours then.......if not ......just repaint!

Woven mat or something...

Thought I'd better contribute something after a long break...
life has been busy around here...

I made this a while ago...
mucking around with leftover bits of something...
can you guess what it's made out of???...

I haven't used it yet...
still thinking of what else to make and do with it...
it's only about the size of my hand...

The most wasted day of all is that on which we have not laughed. Sebastine Chamfort. In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter & sharing of pleasures. -Kahlil Gibran.
These two cards are on my workroom wall.......they always make me smile.
I would like to say thank you to our followers, & welcome the two new ones.......i hope we can continue to keep you interested, maybe even put a smile on your faces too sometimes.

One Thing Leads to Another.......

I have been thinking for a while now my bedroom could do with a new paint job, which means new curtains, artwork etc.,.....OK a total makeover!
I need something to write my ideas in, so grabbed a journal i have had since the year 2000, given to me by my husband. He brought it home from a trip to Canberra.
While he was there he visited Floriade with my youngest sister.......who knew he was interested in gardening?
Anyway, i hadn't used the journal for sometime. I was surprised to read some of the entries........
Five Things To Be Grateful For Today
Sun. 14th. Jan. 2001.
1) I am of sound mind ( that could be debatable).
2) We went out for lunch.
3) I didn't cook today.
4) Butterflies.
5) I'm going to art class tomorrow.

Wed. 17th. Jan. 2001
1) Went shopping, had enough money & some leftover.
2) I bought paint!
3) My beans & tomatoes are growing.
4) My sister came to visit & we actually talked.
5) My grand daughter gave me a bunch of flowers.
Thurs. 25th. Jan. 2001.
1) I completed the 3 day workshop with Rosemary Gartelman (South Australian artist).
2) I learnt a lot about mixed media & seeing things differently.
3) I watched a Rosalie Gascoigne interview on ABC TV. (Australian Artist).
4) I collect things.
5) I have discovered why I have these collections.
These entries came about after I read "Simple Abundance" by Sarah Ban Breatnach.
As I sat quietly on the pool step this morning enjoying the warm summer sun a red dragonfly settled close by as blue butterflies flitted effortlessly from plant to plant.
I looked up at the long slender leaves of the palms swaying to & fro & a white feather danced its way through the air.
My eyes followed it down until it dropped behind the fence. Then i noticed a small grey & white striped feather on top of the water floating past my toes.
How grateful i am for this life I live.
Five Things To Be Grateful For Today......
1) Family.......where would I be without them?
2) Sunshine.
3) Water.
4) The ability to feel.
5) Paint.
Things haven't changed that much over the years. It's the little things, the every day things we take for granted that i am most grateful for.
How about you?
What are you most grateful for?

Rhys & His Penguin

Boys have been making their presence felt this last has passed so swiftly. Rhys is wearing a jumper, shirt , & jeans made from the same, to keep him warm. Penguin has a little crocheted scarf to help keep the winter chills at bay. It is still summer here, but it gets cold where these two are going to live.
