Water.....washed up on the sand

One day this week we went to the lake & i remembered to take the camera. water is one of my favourite things. i am always fascinated by the way it moves, the patterns it creates on sand, with the help of wind & light, the constant motion.......ebb & flow. usually i think of water as a cool blue/ green but here it is transparent, & the yellow/orange leaf against the sandy background paints a warm picture. (raylee)).

How things start.....sometimes

This is how i sometimes work out what i am going to make............ i put fabrics together & usually an idea will happen . ......maybe from the colours or textures, i like to try different or unexpected combinations......patterns, weights, weaves, just mix it up & see what happens.
Did you see Pip on TV this morning? she was "ace" , as she would say. if you missed it..... have a look at MeetMeAtMikes. (raylee).

Favourite find this week

Do you ever go somewhere you didnt plan on going? & come away glad that you did! I went to collect a prescription from the chemist one day this week, & as i had to wait i went to the op shop. i found a linen skirt, almost full circle, lots of fabric to make something new, which i was pleased with....... but then as i walked towards the counter i spotted this top, no way was i leaving without it! Art collage

Hello to our followers, we are very happy to have you, hope you enjoy our blog, & please comment as we are relatively new to blogging & would appreciate your feedback. (raylee).

A new bag.... from recycled fabric finds

First of all i would like to say thank you to Pip from "meet me at mikes' for the "young things", we really appreciate all the help & information we have found on the blog...... so thank you Pip!!! This bag is made from used & recycled fabrics, the floral velvet side is a part of a table runner from the op shop, the patchwork side was a bonus find as the embroidery was already done as well as the patchhwork. the pocket was a fabric sample & the satin lining , & the doilies were given to me . even the thread i used for the running stitches is an op shop find.

i have been trying a few new things while my keyboard was out of action, nothing ready to look at yet. also made some new dolls, & finished the one i thought was a reject. someone saw her & liked her......... beauty is in the eye of the beholder, needless to say she has a new home! (raylee).

feel free to make a comment....we get really excited when someone else notices our stuff......
as newby's we appreciate constructive ideas about our step into blogland.....

Art journal

This is what i have been doing in between other things. my inspiration comes from "diana trout" (hub- bub). this is the front cover, i used an old diary from the office, stuck a picture from a calendar & a word cut from a magazine on the front. i started with bits of fabric & pictures & some journalling , some watercolour pencils to add colour & other bits i found i just added , now its a work in progress. i found it relaxing & quick & easy for times when you dont want to think too much. all you need to start is a book of some sort, a glue stick ,pictures from magazines or draw\paint your own & anything else you think suitable.
try it........ you will be surprised! (raylee).
