Fabric for Chairs

Poor tired old chairs...

fabric worn through...

foam stuffing getting picked at by littlies...

dig out the old pale jeans...

chop off the seams...and maybe they fit...

stitch them in place...

and a denim flower now adorns the worn...

then there are the dining chairs..

old patchwork chair covers cut..

and stapled to the straight...

a new life from the old...

Pinky denim quilt

leftovers found from the cover of the foam divan mattress...

good bits left after dodgy bits cut out...

added a few more bits to make a single bed size...

then an old doona cover added to the back..

alphabet fairies seemed a good choice...

and colours seem to go together...

 

 also had a bit of a go at bunting...

to help finish the job the day before the event...

I only stitched it together...

the pieces were ready to go...

denim look bag

I found a bag pattern...

yay!!

 

 

and then the material I'd been looking at for a while..

 



and then I too decided on a new machine...
so I had to have a play...

old jeans pockets I'd been saving...

two on the inside...

four on the outside...



 

finished bag sits on the shoulder and tucks under the arm...

will have to try it out now...

Chenille Denim Slipcover for a Book - 365 Creative Challenge 2013

the last couple of mixed media collage pages from my altered book for june, image courtesy of thegraphicsfairy, & a slipcover made from the legs of old denim jeans courtesy of simonne.

i stitched five layers of fabric, diagonally, cut through four layers. i was just experimenting with this cut technique,  any way not wanting to waste it i  repeated this then joined the two pieces together as it was about the right size for a book cover........  then put two pieces of scrap furnishing fabric on each end to fold to the inside for the book ends to slip into, then tried the cover on the book for size.

i left all the edges raw,,,,,,just stitched around the cover with the end bits folded into place & added another row of stitching for a firm fit. gave it a wash & dried it in the dryer to fluff the cut edges.

Jeans Apron

i have cleared my messy work table.......well just a bit to do some sewing this last week.
 i have a box full of old denim waiting to be used, so to start i made this apron from a pair of shorts.
i am not really a wearer of aprons unless it is my art apron, & sometimes i don't remember to wear it , so a lot of my clothes have  paint & glue on them.
 but i like to make one occasionally just to see what i can come up with.
 then i give them away to those who enjoy their kitchen time more than i do.
 do you like to bake / cook?
 do you wear an apron?
 if so, do you make your own or buy them ready made?
