Cream crochet

here's another crochet square...

from another project I have on the go...

that cleaning up I was talking about earlier...

has just filled this basket with more stuff to do...

this cream project is a variation of the shuggy concept...

just made with crochet squares instead of knitting...

the problem I now have is that I've run out of this colour wool..

maybe just one more ball would do...

now it will have to wait for a trip to the shop to see if I can match it..

Camels & Crochet?

Good morning........it's getting a bit chilly here .........

 how is your weather?

seems even camels have to get the crochet granny square rugs on!! (raylee).

Brown bag, purple Iris & Tablecloths....

One of my favourite flowers........Iris, & a fabric favourite......damask.....a tablecloth from the op shop,

 In the process of making a bag from a pair of brown cargo pants, floral furnishing sample, a scarf for the lining & some braid, all purchased at various op shops from my travels.

 I have used the top of the pants as i wanted  pockets on the outside of the bag.

 Another op shop find was this stripey cotton fringed bedspread that i am using as a tablecloth.

 Will show you further steps from the bag making process soon, i am kind of using a pattern but making some up as I go. (raylee).

rich colour shruggy

another shruggy done...

what to do with the bright varigated colours of the fluffy wool?..

I think it toned down a lot by adding the other colours...

the thought of earthy colours...

made me think this may fit...

reminds me of the colours of sunset...

depending on where you are when you get a chance to watch it...

Pink and White Shruggy

have been trying to use up bits of wool stashed in various places..

thinking that I'm cleaning up at the same time...

thought these colours might sort of go together...

without being too much of one or the other...

but not sure of the stippy effect...

or the quality of the photo...

knitted on great big needles...

lovely purple ones nearly the thickness of broomsticks...

so it ended up long and loose...

Sketch Book Challenge-May

 I have cheated this month with the "fruit & vegetable" challenge , but these works are all my own.

thought I'd better show something I've been playing with...
had some weird thick yarn sitting in the bottom of the box....
I think Mum had it from some yarn sculpture she didn't finish...

 so I tried a crochet square...
this is my favourite pattern at the moment...
but that's all there is...
so it still has to wait for the next brainwave....

Shades of Red

....& a red Canna.......found the old  wine carrier at the op shop & assorted blue bottles became vases.

Mixed Media Art

From the beginning to the end..........gesso on canvas with a scraper.....watery acrylic paint.....

 paint splatters, more watery paint runs.......paper dress pattern.........block printed ink stamps.....

painted papers applied with gel medium.....

 more paint mixed with gesso......the shapes made with bottle caps  pressed into gel medium showing through now....

 start the painting......sandpaper over some of the ridges.....

 add some oil pastels......paint over them.....rub over with sandpaper again.....

Tapestry & Tea Towel Cushion Covers

A little bit of Australiana & a piece of English tapestry have made their way onto my couch.
 the tapestry is a Kaffe Fassett design.......someone put a lot of time into stitching the pheasant design but for some unknown reason it ended up at the op shop.it was a bit wonky but for $1.00 i was happy to take it home. i just stitched it onto a cushion cover that i had made ages ago.
the 1984 banksia tea towel i found interesting when i read the label.......Czechoslovakian linen.....printed in Hong Kong & made in Australia.
i used pillowcases that had seen better days as the lining for the cushion inserts. (raylee).
