Oriental Theme - Journal

I had a request for a journal with an oriental theme......i started looking through my magazines......& was surprised to find there were enough pictures to fill quite a few pages.
mostly i start the journals by using old books or magazines with sturdy pages. glue pictures in leaving some blank space on most pages so that the person receiving the journal can add their own words, pictures , paint or whatever it is they want to use the journal for.
so thought i would show you some of the colourful pictures i have already glued in.

I think its a good idea to have some sort of starting point like a theme, subject, colour scheme etc. as sometimes i find myself lacking direction with no ideas, or having too many ideas fighting to get out first & not being able to decide on the right one.

is this something you have difficulty with?......or do you know what you are doing & just do it?

i would like to know how you approach new projects, do you jump straight in .......or do you procrastinate?

a bit of glue...
and a bit of shuffling around...
the basket of flowers became the front....this is the inside...

Are You Crazy For Crochet?

Or just crazy like me......hello everyone....... it's that time of year again.....the hooks & the knitting needles are coming out.
i made a granny square crochet rug last year & all the grand kids thought it was great.....some of them had never seen a granny square......ever.
so i decided i would make one for each of them......it will probably take me at least a hundred years.......i was inspired by this article in " Better Homes & Gardens " June 2010 magazine....... i liked these little flowers......& have already made some & stitched them onto "shoe"bags ( you will have already seen them if you are a regular looker ).

i thought this looked good......should i be so ambitious?......why not?

so made all of these.....179 squares of various sizes......now the fun part..... joining them all together.

these cushion covers are pretty......but a bit too busy for me.....but i do like the zig zag blanket.

my mum made one in the 70's. it was green, orange & a yukky brown colour, it did add a bit of style to the brown vinyl lounge though.

i think i might attempt a zig zag pattern rug for the next one........ if i ever get the first one completed!

Confetti and flowers

I've been busy with other things....

but I have been doing little things...

lots of little things...

such fun trying to keep little Miss2 out of this stuff...

she was trying to help...and we have confetti everywhere...

except on the day when she held it tight in her clenched little hand....

not sure whether to make a mess or not...

we used the bits leftover from the invitations...

a 2 hole punch and a little heart shaped punch...

to make a couple of handfuls of confetti...

just enough to do the job...

and get a smile...

Recycled Fan

Ingenious......innovative...........a case of " necessity is the mother of invention" maybe?........this fan in an industrial shed has been constructed from windmill blades and a tyre rim. (raylee).

Black and White Doll

well...

here she is...

the last of the dollies...

my version of a gothic princess...maybe..

that was my intention...

using the black and white print...

and adding a bit of black...

she's a bit aloof...

but just as cuddly as the others...

and just as lovely...

just to be clear...

the pins have been removed...

although now I think she should have had a piercing or two...

sorry things have been a bit quiet here....

life tends to get in the way of good things...

no time to create...

so we dig into the photo file...

this dolly is to continue the blue theme...

she's made from one of my favourite Tshirts...

with a few leftover bits to make a face...

I now have another container with lots of leftover bits...

so when I get time I will be making more faces...hopefully...
