And another bag - with bird
When i look back i see that i have done something, even though at the time every thing seems to be moving slowly. you cant always see what it is you have done until it hasnt been done....... someone else will usually point this out to you! im sure you know what i mean. i seem to have a few things on the go at the moment as i want to try different creative endeavours, i dont want to get stuck with one particular thing.......too boring, anyway i will explain these photos.... the inside of the bag- cotton & linen.........close up of the bird cut from knitted fabric.......doily pocket on one side of bag.......front side of bag with doily & bird applique. Red shoe progress
I am now making progress with this project, it has advanced even further since i took this photo a couple of days ago. this gives an idea of where i am going, after printing the background calico i stitched the appliqued patch onto it & added denim, & printed patches. backstitch shading, some embroidery & buttons & running stitches on the patches. next update soon. Red Shoes
This painting is one of my favourites, it is the original one i painted, i have done a few similar ones over the years & i have liked them all. anyway.... it has inspired me to try creating it in a different medium ...... fabric & thread. i started it today by drawing the shoes & cutting a paper pattern, after cutting the shoes from red corduroy i machine appliqued them to a piece of denim from old jeans, then i decided i would block print some calico in a colour to co-ordinate & complement the applique. i dont have photos yet, will post the progress soon. Senses
How good is it when you come in from the cold & the warmth envelopes you & the smell of something in the oven tantalizes your taste buds....... even if you cooked it yourself?(raylee).

Water
This morning the lake disguised itself..... at first it was liquid satin .... palest of blue.... intermittantly transforming to a slubbed linen a darker blue gently woven through then back to satin, large white to palest grey clouds spattered across the glossy liquid .... i love water! (raylee).

Three printed calico cats

Molly
Molly was created when a little girl asked if she could help to make a doll, so we put all her ideas together & here she is! made from tea stained calico, with raggy hair & a floral top , spotted skirt & shoes from the scrap bag & some discarded fishnets complete her outfit.the tutu (top right corner of picture) reminds me of some other little girls from long long ago. not a lot of posting lately (work & school holidays), but we hope to get more creative very soon. i tried some of almas recycled magazine ideas out with help from kids, we completed three books, it was easy & fun & didnt take too long. i have another bag started along the same lines as the random denim one , will post it soon. Something on the way is now complete.
This is the end product of denim patches & an embroidered doily stitched onto block printed fabric. the knitted fabric became a bird shape, then i cut another from a doily & a wing from a scarf & machine & hand embroidered them on & added a button, at this stage i thought it would be a cushion cover but changed my mind. its now a bag. the back is made from linen with a satin & cotton crochet pocket with a button fastener. the lining is new cotton ,all the other materials used have had a previous life.(raylee).

July
Its cold tonight, you know its winter when the dogs stay in their kennels most of the day only coming out to catch a bit of sunshine as it pushes the clouds away, or to have a bit of a chew on that bone before someone else decides to own it. you know its cold when the cat is so close to the heater you think she is a heater embellishment. you know its cold when you start thinking..... wonder if i could get away with wearing tracky daks to bed? (raylee).
