Crochet Pillow Case & Continuation of Bedroom Makeover/ 365 Creative Challenge 2013

i chose  yellow.......a colour i don't use very often......so decided a little bit would be ok to add some zing to the blue/grey/purple colour scheme.
i almost threw the lemons in the bin a couple of weeks ago but something stopped me. i like little touches of the unexpected.

the back of the pillow case,....... the chenille, the vase, & the clock are op-shop finds. the bedside table & bedheads were kerbside throw outs.

i am almost finished in this guest room, just deciding on a bedside table for the other side of the bed, & where to hang another picture/pictures?
this has been a fun project.......the white was like having a blank canvas to play with.....
i might do this again!

Bedroom Makeover - 365 Creative Challenge

hello everyone.....how are you all?
what have you been up to?
how's the weather at your place?
it's rainy here.......my camera doesn't like overcast weather.......so not much to show you today, ......anyway that doesn't mean i have not been busy.
white paint has been transforming the walls & doors of the bedrooms at my place. a bit of a shock to my system as i had lots of colour before......like the colour in the granny squares.
the squares are to make a pillow case for the spare room. i have to have some colour, i couldn't go completely white. i was inspired to make this change after lots of  oohing & ahhing at enmiespaciovital.blogspot.com, i found a similar granny square pillow cover there as well.
so this is the beginning of my decorating.........  i spray painted two single bedheads (kerbside throwaways), from green to aqua..... the two put together make a queen size bedhead.
the print was a garage sale find........more to come as i progress with it.
thanks for visiting, we love to see you all .

Red White and Blue Crochet

here is a creation sent to me...
lovely red white and blue fluffy wool...
most had been knitted...
but was in a state of coming apart...

I spent some time pulling it out..
and rolling it into balls for a new thing...
a large granny square was the idea...
this wool can be difficult to crochet...in my opinion..
but a granny square...easy..

setting up for photos...
Miss2 couldn't keep her hands off...
its so soft she decided it was a bed for the dollies...
I had a job removing them for the photo...
they kept jumping back on...

the square is now twice the size...
still only a knee rug...
but I may find more wool to extend the edge...
maybe...

Patchwork Blue Crochet Rug

My mother taught me to crochet when i was about 13 or 14, & i then taught others.some of them were very prolific & made lots of granny square rugs. i don't remember making anything very big in those days. smaller things appealed to me  like halter tops & bikinis. later on i crocheted myself a sky blue cotton smock that lasted right through my second pregnancy.
i hadn't crocheted for a long time but was inspired by a request by pip lincoln, meetmeatmike's, to make granny squares to donate to the qld flood appeal.
you get hooked on crochet, it's such an easy craft once you learn the basics, & there are lots of ways to use it.
i have just finished my second rug.i found the pattern in "better homes and gardens magazine, june 2010."
i have found that if i get something started i can pick it up & do a bit in between other projects, keep it in a bag & take it with me for times when i'm waiting ,eg. doctor's, dentist etc., or in front of the tv.
how long have you been crocheting?
who taught you?
what have you made recently?
or do you buy items already made?
would you like to learn to crochet?

green and blue granny squares

these are the squares made from the last of the blue and green colours I had left...

I was getting a bit tired of the stripes with the knitting so I changed to squares...

getting out into the sun to find a decent photo...
may be a bit bright...
and my favourite jumper is looking a bit tired too...

so the front appears a bit narrow...
and no collar to speak of so...

I scraped up some more bits of wool...
added edging and a few rows for a collar...

                                                                         here it is...
done and dusted...
better fit...
and warmer on these chilly days...

Child's Play

This is what i have been doing in my "spare time"......usually at the end of the day in front of the television..... ...i like the side with all the joined seams showing. i decided to put this lot together to make a square, then did six rows of treble around it.......

..... i will continue making the squares this size & join them until it gets too boring. hopefully it will reach a reasonable size. if projects look too big to begin with i sometimes wont start them.

Had a little visitor today .....just the right size for a child's game. (raylee).
