Post Number 600

always back to front with my photos, anyway........started out just playing around re painting an old acrylic on canvas.
experimenting with stamping into gel medium, stencilling through a piece of  nylon lace curtain to see what kind of texture would show up, it worked quite well.
i cut bits of the curtain & pressed them into the gel medium, when it was dry i added more paint & some crayon & the collage girl, & a bit of turquoise ink drawing.
more paint & lace & acrylic circles at the bottom pressed into gel medium, let it dry again & painted the circles.
i didn't take photos right from the start as i didn't think it was going any where.
i put it away for a while at number 1 & then had another look at it & decided to keep going.
i think it is finished now.......number 3. the canvas measures 8" x 10", 20 x 25 cm.
if you click on the photos you will see all the texture created by the gel medium & the lace curtain.
thanks for visiting our blog today, we love to see you .

Pinky denim quilt

leftovers found from the cover of the foam divan mattress...
good bits left after dodgy bits cut out...
added a few more bits to make a single bed size...
then an old doona cover added to the back..
alphabet fairies seemed a good choice...
and colours seem to go together...

also had a bit of a go at bunting...
to help finish the job the day before the event...
I only stitched it together...
the pieces were ready to go...

Gift Wrap

my recycling idea for today: use pattern tissue & instruction paper to wrap presents & tie with string, lace, braid, ric-rac or ribbons.

Fabric Collage & Stitch & Collage Mix - 365 Creative Challenge 2013

i have counted!.......i am up to date as of friday 15/11/2013 with the 365 creative challenge.
this mix of collage, watercolour & embroidery brings me to day 319.
so after almost 11 months i am getting some sort of order happening, not really just keeping  on with it every day.
the idea for the watercolour fish is from the book "freestyle quilts" by susan carlson.
her website if you like quilting or also if you like collage. her fabric collage is stunning. go on have a look!!

Crochet

in a recent fit of tidying up...
I found some old sheets I'd been keeping for something...
lovely soft old flannelette one got a tear in it so I started stripping...
then found the large crochet hook...
then created a circular mat...
then a yellow sheet appeared so I had a go with it...
this time I tried a doily type circle...
probably a bit cute but not really so nice to step on...
bit lumpy...
and then I found this shruggy that I haven't finished yet...
another doily style pattern...
that has slits for the arms to go through...
may finish it one day...

Indian Feathers.......

i painted the tape with a mix of french ultramarine, turquoise, dioxazine purple & white acrylic & flicked artist's pigmented turquoise ink on while the paint was still wet.
when this was dry i drew the lines around the edge with french ultramarine straight from the tube with a rigger.
the idea for this came from the pattern on a piece of old tea towel i use as a paint rag.
next step .....while flicking through a magazine i found the feather head dress ......i liked  the colours in the feathers & thought they would look ok with the  paint colours i had used.

 more magazine flicking........found the girl.
her dress colour & pattern ties in with the tea towel pattern .
cut off her head, just the right size for the head dress.
no real idea here yet, until i find the cactus in the aqua drum, colour goes with the turquoise ink, another cactus in a galvanised  bucket goes with the silver /grey of the duct tape.

painted some more lines on the border with liquitex concentrated artist colour,  interference blue/opal blue.

photos taken at different times of the day makes a difference to the colour.
so there you have it .......nothing complicated, no messages, just whatever gets my attention & colour plays a big part of most of my collages.
a title???..........a little bit...... "running bear meets little white dove?''.......maybe??

There's Something About Washing Flapping In The Breeze.........

collage made from cut painted papers.......i looked for colours & patterns in the paint  that would suit the subjects, nothing added......just a pencil line & glue.

 doodling with different black pens........

the pictures of the boy were found in an old children's story book.

i then found the fabric scrap of the children. this scrap completed the last page along with the alphabet stencil.
the boy is dressed almost the same as the one from the book. the children on the fabric are characters from an old school reader, i am not sure of the name of the reader though. someone out there might remember it.
......& some black acrylic lines added to the bird also from cut painted papers.
i painted over an old watercolour with black gesso to use as the background, some little bits of the watercolour show through.
of course i still don't know where i am up to with the "365 creative challenge 2013".......i just keep doing something every day.
it has become a pleasurable habit now.
i will count soon to make sure i am right up to date.......i never was very good at maths.....
 but i am tenacious.
